I am requesting approval to use Adams Stewart Architects, LLC for the design and construction administration for the new Fire Station #3 to be constructed on Fairway Dr. in Glenlakes based on the proposal submitted of up to $43,200.00. After seeking and reviewing design proposals from five Registered Architects, I feel that David Adams of Adams Stewart Architects, LLC is well qualified, experienced in fire station construction, and will work to keep the project cost-effective while meeting our needs. His proposal of 7.2% of the project amount as an architectural fee is well within normal ranges, and he is committed to fully managing the project through all aspects of construction. His estimates show that he believes that construction of the building can be completed for significantly less than our budget projection. He has estimated that our cost for building construction will be in the $100 - $110 / sq. ft. range as opposed to our budget estimate of $150 / sq. ft.

WHEREAS, the City of Foley has contacted five registered architects for the design and construction administration for Fire Station #3 to be constructed on Fairway Drive in Glenlakes Subdivision and they are as follows:
Adams Stewart Architects, LLC, Robertsdale, AL - David Adams
McCollough Architecture, Inc., Gulf Shores, AL - Sted McCollough
Walcott Adams Verneuille Architects - Fairhope, AL - Mac Walcott
Williams & Associates, PA - Biloxi, MS - Mark Williams
Hatch Mott MacDonald - Daphne, AL - Otis Gatlin
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief recommends selecting Adams Stewart Architects, LLC based on their qualifications, their experience in fire station construction and their willingness to keep the project below the estimated $150/square feet.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Accepts Adams Stewart Architects, LLC's proposal of 7.2% of the project amount as an architectural fee for the design and construction administration of Fire Station #3. Their proposal is made a permanent part of this resolution upon adoption.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
