The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) requires certain employers to provide employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19 through December 31, 2020. There is currently no indication that Congress will act to extend the FFCRA at this time. In the case that Congress does not extend the FFCRA, the City desires to provide the FFCRA leave provisions past December 31, 2020 for City employees until May 31, 2021 at which time the need for the FFCRA leave provision extension will be re-accessed.

                     WHEREAS, The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) requires certain employers to provide employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19 through December 31, 2020, and

                     WHEREAS, There is currently no indication that Congress will act to extend the FFCRA at this time, and

                     WHEREAS, In the case that Congress does not extend the FFCRA, the City desires to provide the FFCRA leave provisions past December 31, 2020 for City employees until May 31, 2021 at which time the need for the FFCRA leave provision extension will be re-accessed.

 

                     NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

                     SECTION 1: Approves an extension of the FFCRA Leave Provision as shown on the attached flyer for City employees through May 31, 2021 to be administered in the same fashion as is currently being administered.

                     SECTION 2: The need for continued FFCRA Leave Provisions past May 31, 2021 will be re-accessed at that time.      

                          SECTION 3:  This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
