WHEREAS, Foley Main Street has requested funding assistance for the procurement and installation of thermal street markers for the Downtown Foley Arts & Entertainment District; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project includes twenty (20) thermal markers measuring approximately 36 inches wide by 24 inches high to enhance wayfinding, improve pedestrian visibility, and strengthen the visual identity of the Downtown Arts & Entertainment District; and
WHEREAS, the total requested funding amount for the procurement of the markers is Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00); and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the installation of these markers will support tourism, economic development, downtown revitalization, and the continued enhancement of the visitor experience within the City of Foley; and
WHEREAS, supporting documentation, including the formal request letter and backup materials from Foley Main Street, has been presented to the City Council for consideration; and
WHEREAS, Foley Main Street reports total grants received after June 30, 2026, will equal approximately One Hundred Fifty-Seven Thousand One Hundred Thirty-Eight Dollars ($157,138.00), excluding Riviera grants; and
WHEREAS, Foley Main Street further anticipates receiving an additional Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) from Main Street Alabama in August 2026 upon completion of grant requirements, and
WHEREAS, a budget increase is required to pay for this expense: $2,000 to GL #100-3114-6163 Signs and Street Markers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FOLEY, ALABAMA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The City Council hereby approves funding in the amount of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) for the Downtown Foley Arts & Entertainment District thermal street markers as requested by Foley Main Street.
Section 2: Approves the budget increase as requested: $2,000 to GL #100-3114-6163 Signs and Street Markers.
Section 3: The Mayor and appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to execute any documents and take any actions necessary to carry out the intent of this Resolution.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
