Resolution 22-1304 declared the structures located at 18840 Underwood Road (York Property) as surplus and approved demolition and removal from the property.  Asbestos needs to be removed from the house prior to demolition and then city forces will demo all of the structures and remove any trees and vegetation that are necessary to complete the project.  NOTE:  AMIC paid the City $50,000 in February 2021 after settling a claim for property damage at this location which resulted from Hurricane Sally.

     WHEREAS, Resolution 22-1304-RES declared structures located at 18840 Underwood Road (York Property) surplus and authorized the structures to be demolished or removed by best possible means, and,

     WHEREAS, asbestos siding is on the exterior of the house and needs to be professionally removed prior to demolition, and

     WHEREAS, city forces will demolish the structures and will also remove any trees or vegetation that is necessary or required in order to complete the project.

     NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

     SECTION 1:     Approves Amerson Roofing Inc.'s quote in the amount of $12,000 for the removal of asbestos and felt from the house.

     SECTION 2:     Appropriates $17,000 to account number 100-1070-6010 for work to be performed by Amerson Roofing, Inc. and to cover the cost of landfill fees and miscellaneous expenses associated with the removal of the structures by city forces.

     SECTION 3:     This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
