The City of Foley Police Chief is retiring September 1, 2020 and the City of Foley desires to re-hire the Police Chief as a Regular, Part-Time, Training Specialist to provide Leadership programs and various training to City Employees. The Police Chief is a Certified John Maxwell Leadership Coach and will be re-hired as a Regular, Part-Time employee at $21.22 an hour, not to exceed $32,000 annually. This request is budget neutral for FY20 and is included in the FY21 Draft Budget for $32,000 annually.

                     WHEREAS, The City of Foley Police Chief is retiring September 1, 2020 and the City of Foley desires to re-hire the Police Chief, who is a certified John Maxwell Leadership Coach, as a Regular, Part-Time, Training Specialist, not to exceed $32,000 annually to work with HR in providing various leadership programs and training to City employees, and

                     WHEREAS, Under certain conditions, retired City of Foley Employees have a maximum income amount they can earn in order to remain eligible for RSA Retirement benefits and therefore at the request of this employee, this position will be exempt from merit raise increases but will remain entitled to all other benefits of Regular, Part-Time, Employees as described under the Personnel System Policy (PSP), Section 1.2(1)(b). 

 

     NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

                     SECTION 1: Approves the creation of a Regular, Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Training Specialist position (G-140 / Job Code #1010127) as defined by the PSP, Section 1.2(1)(b), at $21.22 an hour not to exceed twenty-nine (29) hours per week (1508 annually) and/or $32,000 annually, effective pay period beginning September 15, 2020.

                     SECTION 2: Authorizes this position to be exempt from merit system raises at the request of the employee so as not to exceed the RSA threshold of $32,000 annually.

                          SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
