A Resolution Approving Increase of Sanitation Funds for Immediate Limb Truck Rental
Summary
The Sanitation Dept. has been 2 to 3 weeks behind picking up limbs/yard debris. Though Sanitation has 4 limb trucks, we have been operating with only 1 or 2 of them due to mechanical issues. Sanitation will have a third truck operational in the next few months, but until then we need another truck, so we can catch up on limbs/yard debris. Sanitation needs an increase of $20,400.00 in Account # 100-4010-6044. With this increase, we will be able to rent a limb truck from Interstate Billing Serve, Inc. (IBS) for the next 3 months. This will give us the ability to catch up on limb/yard debris pickup; thereby better serving the Citizens of the City of Foley.

WHEREAS, the Sanitation Department has been 2 to 3 weeks behind picking up limbs/yard debris, and only 1 or 2 trucks out of 4 limb trucks are operational, and,
WHEREAS, Sanitation will have a third truck operational in the next few months, but needs another truck now to catch up on limbs/yard debris, and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the debris that is collecting is affecting public health and safety by blocking drainage ditches and creating fire hazards, and,
WHEREAS, the Sanitation Department can remedy the hazard by leasing a limb truck and/or contracting the service, and,
WHEREAS, the Sanitation Department is asking for an increase of $20,400 to their budget to cover the rental.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama,
SECTION 1: Approves establishing an equipment rental account for Sanitation (100-4010-6044) and appropriates $20,400.00.
SECTION 2: Declares an emergency situation and approves obtaining bids for limb truck rental and/or contracting debris removal service.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
