The Council adopted Resolution #20-1116 on May 4, 2020 implementing spending reduction measures of which included the filling of vacant positions. This resolution authorizes the filling of a vacancy in the Street Department due to the start of the budgeted new position of the Sweeper Truck Driver Operator which will be filled by an internal promotion. It also approves the filling of a vacancy in the Equipment Operator I position due to the internal promotion and the filling of the new Public Works Part-Time, Temporary Administrative Assistant approved in the FY20 Budget. Additionally, this resolution authorizes the modification of two (2) job titles in the Pay Plan with no other changes to the positions and thus these are housekeeping items. All of the action in this resolution is budget neutral.

WHEREAS, The City Council adopted Resolution #20-1116 on May 4, 2020 implementing spending reduction measures of which included the filling of vacant positions, and

WHEREAS, there is a need to fill a vacancy in the Street Department for the budgeted, new position of Sweeper Truck Driver Operator, previously approved by Resolution #20-1116, which will be filled by an internal promotion, and

WHEREAS, there is a need to fill the vacancy of an Equipment Operator I position due to the internal promotion to the Sweeper Truck Driver Operator, and

WHEREAS, there is a need to fill the new Public Works Part-Time, Temporary Administrative Assistant approved in the FY20 Budget, and

WHEREAS, there is a need to change the job title of Environmental Manager (Job Code #2040102) to Environmental Director (Job Code #2040107) in the Pay Classification Plan to more accurately describe the position, and

WHEREAS, there is a need to change the job title of Benefits Specialist/Safety Coordinator (Job Code #1010109) in the Pay Classification Plan to Benefits Specialist (Job Code #1010125) to more accurately describe the position due to the position no longer performing  the Safety Coordinator job function, and

WHEREAS, all of the actions described in this resolution are budget neutral.

                     

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

 

SECTION 1: Authorizes the filling of a vacancy by internal promotion in the Street Department for the budgeted, new position of Sweeper Truck Driver Operator, previously approved by Resolution #20-1116. 

SECTION 2: Authorizes the filling of the vacancy of an Equipment Operator I position due to the vacancy created by the internal promotion to the Sweeper Truck Driver Operator.

SECTION 3: Authorizes the filling of the new Public Works Part-Time, Temporary Administrative Assistant as approved in the FY20 Budget. 

SECTION 4: Authorizes a job title change for the Environmental Manager (Job Code #2040102) to the job title of Environmental Director (Job Code #2040107) in the Pay Classification Plan with no other position modifications.

SECTION 5: Authorizes a job title change for the Benefits Specialist/Safety Coordinator (Job Code #1010109) to the job title of Benefits Specialist (Job Code #1010125) in the Pay Classification Plan with no other position modifications.

SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
