In preparation for the new Fire St.3 in Glenlakes, we are in need of an additional Advanced Defibrillator Monitor for use in various emergency medical situations. Our local dealer for these devices, Lifestar Bio Medical, is offering a used Zoll M-Series monitor that is compatible with our existing equipment at a rare, sustantial discount for a total purchase price of $2200.00 with a new battery, cables, and a 1-yr. warranty. A new Zoll M-Series monitor with comparible features currently sells for $29,520.00, a difference of $27,320.00. I am requesting to use the balance of the budgeted funds from the security upgrades to Fire St.1 in account 01-609-7010 , $2200, to purchase this device.

WHEREAS, the Fire Department is in need of an additional Advanced Defibrillator Monitor in preparation for the new Fire St.3 for use in various emergency medical situations, and
WHEREAS, Lifestar Bio Medical is offering a used Zoll M-Series monitor with new battery, cables, and 1-yr. warranty at a substantial discount, and
WHEREAS, the security upgrades at Fire St.1 were $2,200.00 less than the FY13 budgeted amount of $10,000.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the purchase of a used Zoll M-Series Advanced Defibrillator Monitor from Lifestar Bio Medical in the amount of $2,200.00 under account 01-609-7010 from the savings on the $10,000 budgeted Fire St. 1 security upgrades.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
