Body

Whereas June 2nd through June 10th is National Fishing and Boating week, and

Whereas boating, fishing, and recreational watersports have long been a large component of recreation for citizens of the City of Foley and indeed all Baldwin County residents, and

Whereas population growth in the City and County has created added pressure to the existing boating access facilities in the County, and

Whereas addressing those pressures through the use of pending GOMESA (offshore oil and gas revenue) disbursements expected to be received by the County from the U.S. Department of the Interior is a good alternative to help with water access facilities for our citizens, and

Whereas the Baldwin County Commission voted in favor of using those funds to enhance boating access for the general public, and

Whereas the Legislative body of the City of Foley recognizes the benefits that additional boat access facilities will have on the recreation of citizens of the City of Foley and all citizens of the County, and

Now, therefore be it resolved by the Legislative body of the City of Foley, Alabama that it recognizes the week of June 2nd through June 10th as National Fishing and Boating week and endorses and fully supports the efforts made by the Baldwin County Commission to use their anticipated GOMESA distribution dollars to address boating access.
