A Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to Sign a Contract with AltaPointe Health Systems. (AHS)
Summary
Foley Police Department is requesting to authorize the Mayor to sign a contract for mental health services with AltaPointe Health Systems (AHS). Officers respond to numerous calls for service involving individuals having a behavioral crisis that may or may not be of a criminal nature. These encounters often times require the officer to solely rely upon his/her training in de-escalation to calm the situation of which they are in. AltaPointe Health Systems has offered a service to the Foley Police Department using technology by way of an IPAD and a connection to MyCare software for officers to connect virtually with real-time mental health professionals who can provide guidance, assessments and recommendations during these encounters, as requested by the officers. In addition, this same software can be utilized by our department employees providing confidental support to our own employees in their time of need. Foley Police Department will reimburse AHS $85.00/month for the services listed in the attached MOU. The agreement will begin on Sept 1, 2025 and end on August 31, 2027. This agreement may be terminated by either party at anytime throughout the contract by issuing a 30 day notice in writing. The IPAD will remain the property of AHS after termination.

WHEREAS, AltaPointe Health Systems has offered Foley Police Department technology by way of an IPAD and a connection to MyCare software for officers to connect virtually with real-time mental health
professionals during these encounters, who can provide guidance, assessments and recommendations for a monthly cost of $85.00. This same service is also available to department employees
who may require confidential support in some way.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
Section 1: Approves entering into a contract with AltaPointe Health Systems, effective September 1, 2025 for a monthly cost of $85.00.
Section 2: Authorizes the Mayor to sign the contract upon recommendation of Police Department personnel.
Section 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
