WHEREAS, the City of Foley entered into an agreement with Volkert, Inc. on February 3, 2020 by 20-1023-RES to provide all necessary professional services associated with improvements to the Foley Municipal Airport, and,
WHEREAS, a new terminal building is needed due to the age and condition of the current terminal building.
WHEREAS, a grant opportunity is available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Airport Terminal Program, and if awarded, could provide significant funding for the engineering and the construction of a new terminal building.
WHEREAS, previous BIL grant awards have proven that having the terminal building design and certain aspects of the site development completed in order for the project to be construction ready has increased the chance of grant award, and,
WHEREAS, Volkert Supplemental Agreement No. 7 and 8 totaling $238,661 provide professional services related to the design, site development and construction oversight of the terminal building project.
WHEREAS, only a portion of this amount would be spent in FY24 to achieve a construction ready project.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves Volkert, Inc.'s Supplemental Agreement No. 7 and 8 and appropriates $240,000 to account number 400-1070-5109.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
