Establishing the salary of the Mayor and Council Members. Council must suspend the rules for the immediate adoption of this ordinance.

 

 

Body

    

     BE IT ORDAINED by the Foley City Council as follows:

 

     SECTION 1:     Ordinance No. 20-2000 adopted on January 6, 2020, and any earlier ordinances dated prior to January 6, 2020 relating to establishing salaries of the Mayor and Council Members are hereby repealed.

     SECTION 2:     That the salary of the Mayor of the City of Foley, Alabama shall be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of $115,000.00 annually to be paid bi-weekly. The Mayor will request reimbursement for qualifying expenses.

     SECTION 3:     That the salary for the Council President of the City of Foley, Alabama shall be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of $34,000.00 annually to be paid bi-weekly.  The Council President will request reimbursement for qualifying expenses.

     SECTION 4:     That the salary for the Council President Pro-tempore of the City of Foley, Alabama shall be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of $30,000.00 annually to be paid bi-weekly. The Council President Pro-tempore will request reimbursement for qualifying expenses.

     SECTION 5:     That each Council Member, excluding the Council President and President Pro-tempore, shall be compensated at the sum of $27,500.00 annually to be paid bi-weekly. Council Members will continue to request reimbursement for qualifying expenses.

     SECTION 6:     The Mayor and Council (and their spouses and dependents) are eligible to utilize the City's on-site clinic at no cost to them (or their spouses and dependents).

     SECTION 7:     The Mayor and Council are eligible to participate in the RSA-1 or Empower Retirement Deferred Compensation Plan.

     SECTION 8:     This ordinance shall become effective on the first Monday in November, 2025, and shall continue in force and effect until repealed by action of the council.

     SECTION 9:     The salaries of Mayor and Council shall be adjusted upon the adoption of a COLA for City employees.

     SECTION 10:   This ordinance shall become effective upon its publication as required by law.
