The South Baldwin Education Foundation is requesting assistance in the amount of $7,000 as a pro-rata share of last academic years awards to Foley High School graduates.

WHEREAS, the South Baldwin Education Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) that was established in 1987 to improve advanced education opportunites for graduates of the area's public high schools, has provided $5,931,729 in scholarships and
WHEREAS, the Foundation charges no fee to to its current sixty sponsors that consist of Community Businesses, Civic Clubs and Organizations and many Memorial Scholarships sponsored by organizations, family and friends, and
WHEREAS, the significant increase in sponsors over the years caused the previously all-volunteer organization to contract with a professional organization for the application and award process as well as the collection and submission of scholarship funds to accredited educational institutions.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1:      The Council acknowledges that the South Baldwin Education Foundation provides a valuable service to the community by award of scholarships to Foley High School graduates.
SECTION 2:    Approves $7,000 in assistance to the Foundation and appropriates the funds under account Public Relations/Community Development Account 01-620-8110.
SECTION 3:      This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
