In a prior Resolution (24-1029-RES) on January 16, 2024, the Foley Police Department was approved to purchase a Dual Purpose K9, at which time K9 Bronco was purchased. On May 26, 2024, K9 Bronco unexpectedly passed away. For this reason, Foley Police Department is requesting to declare K9 Bronco as surplus. Foley Police Department is also requesting to purchase a replacement, (1) K9 Dual Purpose Dog under Capital account number 100-2010-5100 not to exceed the amount of $15,000.00. The death of K9 Bronco was unexpected therefore the replacement dog is not budgeted but there are capital funds remaining in the current budget to cover the cost of the replacement dog, no increase to budget is required. Included in the cost will be the purchase of the canine, customs/broker fees, and some travel expenses. The total cost will not exceed the $15,000.00. A wire transfer will need to be made for the purchase of the canine as we are purchasing this dog from overseas.

WHEREAS, K9 Bronco was authorized for purchase under Resolution 24-1029 on January 16, 2024, and unexpectedly passed away on May 26, 2024, and for this reason the Foley Police Department is requesting to Surplus K9 Bronco.
WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting to purchase (1) K9 Dual Purpose Dog as a replacement for K9 Bronco, total cost to include the canine, broker/custom fees and travel expenses, not to exceed the amount of $15,000.00 to be
purchased from Capital Account #100-2010-5100 with already existing funds requiring no increase to the budget and
WHEREAS, the canine is being purchased from oversees a wire transfer will need to be made for the purchase of the canine.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the purchase of (1) replacement K9 Dual Purpose Dog not to exceed the amount of $15,000.00, with existing funds in the Capital Purchase Account #100-2010-5100 to include the cost of the canine, broker/cusom fees and
travel expenses.
SECTION 2: Approves the Surplus of K9 Bronco due to his death.
SECTION 3: Approves the purchase being made from overseas with a wire transfer as the form of payment.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
