Body

 

     WHEREAS, the City adopted Resolution 17-1187 and Resolution 17-1313 to appropriate funds to purchase a new trackless train for the Museum Depot and Model Train Exhibit, and

     WHEREAS, Resolution 17-1187 appropriated funds for the purchase of a trackless train in the prior fiscal year and that funding expired September 30th, 2017; and,

     WHEREAS, Resolution 17-1313 appropriated funds for the purchase of a trackless train with a 60% deposit in the amount of $26,700; and,

     WHEREAS, bids were solicited and received on October 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. for a trackless train for the Foley Depot Museum and Model Train Exhibit; and, 

     WHEREAS, a single bid was received in the amount of $44,500 from True American Classics Inc., and,   

 WHEREAS, True American Classics, Inc. has agreed to require a 55% non-refundable deposit at the time of order in the amount of $24,475

     WHEREAS, the Museum Board has approved up to $24,475 from the Museum checking account (01-1069) to pay this deposit, and the remaining $20,025 will be paid from the General Fund Operations account (01-1063), and,

     WHEREAS, the Museum board was approved to request sponsorships through the South Baldwin Chamber by resolution #17-1187.

     THEREFORE, Resolution 17-1187 and Resolution 17-1313 must be rescinded.

     NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

     SECTION 1:Rescinds Resolution 17-1187 and Resolution 17-1313.     

     SECTION 2: Re-appropriates funding in the amount of $44,500 for the purchase of a trackless train to account 01-623-7010.

     SECTION 3: Approves purchasing a new trackless train in the amount of $44,500 from True American Classics, Inc.

     SECTION 4: Authorizes the Depot Museum Manager to make payment for the non-refundable deposit in the amount of $24,475 from the Depot Museum checking account (01-1069), and approves the $20,025 balance to be paid from the General Fund Operations account (01-1063) upon delivery.

     SECTION 5: Approves contacting the South Baldwin Chamber to request sponsorships for the total amount of $20,025, and amends the budget for revenue account 01-5072 accordingly. Should sponsorships not be received, a report will be made to Council.

     SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
