A Resolution to Apply for the USDOT's FY26 BUILD Grant
Summary
The USDOT's FY26 Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program is accepting applications until February 24, 2026. There is $1.5B available for grant awards. There is no minimum for planning project grants. The grant will cover up to 100%, but the City will likely request 80% in grant funds and the City will be required to match 20% to increase our chances of grant funding. The City will be seeking funding for a planning grant to design a capital project for sidewalks on Hwy 98 west of the soccer fields on Ralph Shumacher Rd. AllenES will be assisting the City with the submission of the application.

WHEREAS, the USDOT FY26 Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program is accepting applications until February 24, 2026, and
WHEREAS, the grant will cover up to 100%, but the City will likely request 80% and the City will be required to match 20% to increase our chances of grant funding, and
WHEREAS, the City will be seeking funding for a planning grant to design a capital project for sidewalks on Hwy 98 west of the soccer fields on Ralph Shumacher Rd, and
WHEREAS, AllenES will be assisting the City with the submission of the application.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves City staff to work with AllenES to submit the grant application to the USDOT's FY26 BUILD Grant.
SECTION 2: Approves to the request to fund a 20% match if awarded the grant.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
