The Public Works Dept hired a temporary full-time Administrative Assistant in August 2020 to assist with the increased call volume, walk-in customers and to provide additional administrative support. The need to make this a permanent position has grown significantly over the past year due to the substantial growth throughout the city. This position is also providing more administrative support to the various Crew Leaders than was previously expected. We do not anticipate a relief from this increased workload in the future and feel a permanent position is warranted. After a job analysis was conducted, the job title, description and pay grade are identical to the previous Administrative Asst I-Public Works that was upgraded to an Administrative Asst IV by Res # 20-1110. Therefore the request is to reinstate that previous position to amend the pay plan and is budget neutral.

WHEREAS, the administrative duties of the temporary full-time Administrative Assistant in the Public Works Department have grown significantly over the past year due to the substantial growth throughout the city, with an increase in call volume, walk-in customers, and administrative support to various Crew Leaders that was not previously expected, and
WHEREAS, per the City's Personnel System Policy, temporary employees are hired for positions that are not long-term and ongoing in nature, in which this position is long-term and ongoing, and believe a permanent position is warranted.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Amends the Pay Classification Plan by reinstating the position of Administrative Assistant I - Public Works (Job code 1060101 / Pay grade 60) effective pay period beginning July 20, 2021.
SECTION 2: Authorizes a transfer of funds in the approximate amount of $6.500 as outlined in the attached Request to Transfer Departmental Budget Dollars.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
