As a means of promoting and enhancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning opportunities for the Foley Community, the City of Foley Public Library would like to apply for the 2017 NASA@My Library Grant. The Grant, if awarded, would provide funding and materials for the City of Foley Public Library to carryout programs devoted to STEM learning opportunities that can positively effect both young and old members of the Foley Community. The Grant would allow the City of Foley Public Library the opportunity to colaborate with other local groups such as the YMCA and the Snook Youth Center that could provide programming for underserved populations as well as long standing patrons of the City of Foley Public Library. No local match needed would be needed if this grant is awarded.

WHEREAS, the City of Foley Public Library intends to make application to the NASA@MY Library Grant in the amount of $2,050.00 to be used to enhance the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) opportunities for library patrons, and
WHEREAS, the deadline for the grant is March 22, 2017, and
WHEREAS, the amount of the grant is $2,050.00 wiht no local match.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the application by the City of Foley Public Library to the NASA@My Library Grant for funds and materials that will enhance the STEM educational opportunities for Library patrons.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
