We have budgeted to purchase a new 2023 custom fire pumper in the FY22 budget in order to prepare for future growth of the Fire Department. Most manufacturers are currently stating approximately 400 days delivery time on custom pumpers, and at least one manufacturer anticipates a significant price increase in November due to rising materials costs. Therefore, I am requesting to go to bid in order to have a recommendation ready for approval with the beginning of the new fiscal year.

WHEREAS, the Foley Fire Department has planned for purchasing a new 2023 custom fire pumper in the FY22 budget year as a scheduled purchase in its apparatus purchasing plan through Fire Ad Valorem Fund Capital Purchases, and
WHEREAS, most custom fire apparatus manufacturers are currently on an approximately 400-day delivery schedule making the timing of a bid award and order critical at the beginning of the fiscal year, and
WHEREAS, price increases are anticipated in the coming months due to rising materials costs.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves going to bid on a 2023 custom fire pumper for the Foley Fire Department.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
