Summary
Foley Sports Tourism would like move forward with paving both parking lots at the Event Center in one project. Bids were publicly opened on July 25, 2024 with R&S Paving & Grading, LLC being the lowest responsive bidder in the amount of $404,919. Thompson Engineering recommends that we award this contract to R&S Paving & Grading, LLC. We have already appropriated $77,800 for Thompson Engineering 24-1104RES for their design, construction and engineering services.

WHEREAS, Foley Sports Tourism needs to resurface the Event Center Parking lots;
WHEREAS, FST budgeted $250,000 for FY24 for one parking lot and $300,000 for FY25 for the other parking lot;
WHEREAS Sealed bids were publicly opened on July 25, 2024 for the Event Center Resurfacing Project, and,
WHEREAS, R&S Paving & Grading submitted a bid for $404,919 for both parking lots, and
WHEREAS, Thompson Engineering recommended that we award R&S Paving & Grading the bid, and
WHEREAS, Foley Sports Tourism request an additional allocation of $404,919 to cover the project,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Award R&S Paving & Grading, LLC lowest responsive bidder the Event Center Resurfacing Project for $404,919.
SECTION 1: Appropriates an additional $404,919 for a total project expenditure of $482,719 for resurfacing and expansion plan for Foley Sports Tourism for account #400-5041-6197 Event Center Resurfacing;
SECTION 2: Approves expenditures up to $404,919 to R&S Paving & Grading, LLC;
SECTION 3: Authorizes the Mayor to sign the contract for services;
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
