Corporal Lizarraga: The Foley Police Department K-9 Unit would like to host the 2017 USPCA Canine Nationals September 25-30, 2017. The handlers and canines will perform bite work, suspect search, obedience, and agility and we would like to hold this at the Sports Tourism Multi-Use Ballfield Complex and we would like to hold the article search at Graham Creek Nature Preserve. This will all be open to the public and a demo for the public will also be performed. The USPCA handles the tracking of donations and pays the expenses to host the event and there is no cost to the City. The USPCA will also donate a percentage of any remaining donations and memberships to the Foley K-9 Unit.

WHEREAS, the Police Department K-9 Unit would like to host the 2017 United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) Canine Nationals at no cost to the City, and
WHEREAS, the Police K-9 Unit requests use of the new Sports Tourism Multi-Use Ballfield Complex and Graham Creek Nature Preserve for this purpose, and
WHEREAS, all financial activity of the Canine Nationals is managed by the USPCA at no cost to the City.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the Police K-9 Units request to host the 2017 USPCA Canine Nationals.
SECTION 2: Approves use of the new Sports Tourism Multi-Use Ballfied Complex and Graham Creek Nature Preserve for the event.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
