Memorialize ADCNR ACAMP Grant Application for Outdoor Classroom Design and Educational Program Development at the GCNP. The grant will include using Nature Explore to design the area and assist in development of programs for use of the class areas. The request is for $8,000 federal funds which will be matched 1:1 with in kind services.

WHEREAS, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, State Lands Division, Coastal Section (ADCNR), accepted applications for coastal planning and education & outreach projects in the Alabama Coastal Area for Fiscal Year 2012,
WHEREAS, the grant fnds will be made available by the Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management (OCRM) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and administered by the ADCNR on a competitive basis, and
WHEREAS, the maximum award will be $8,000 and will require a 50/50 match funds, which may consist of cash, materials, in-kind services or donationsthat support the project, and
WHEREAS, the deadline for applications was January 18, 2013, and
WHEREAS, if granted the funds, the funds will be used to design an outdoor classroom and play area and develop an educational program for use at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, State Lands Division, Coastal Section grant application in the amount of $8,000, with the understanding that if awarded there is a 50/50 matching funds required, for the design of an outdoor classroom and play area and development of an educational program at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
