Summary
The City of Foley requested appropriation funding through Senator Katie Britt's office for the placement of underground utilities. As the appropriation has been awarded, the City is now required to submit an application for the FY26 Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) Congressionally Directed Spending Grant Program to obtain the funding. WHEREAS, the City of Foley requested appropriation funding through Senator Katie Britt's office for the placement of underground utilities, and
WHEREAS, as the appropriation has been awarded, the City is now required to submit an application for the FY26 Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) Congressionally Directed Spending Grant Program to obtain the funding, and
WHEREAS, if the application is approved, the City of Foley would be awarded $2,063,000 to put towards the Strategic Placement of City of Foley Utilities Underground, and
WHEREAS, this grant is a 75/25 split with the City of Foley and Riviera Utilities splitting the match equally (12.5% each), and
WHEREAS, City of Foley requests permission to submit the application on behalf of the City of Foley and Riviera Utilities and agrees to fund the match if awarded.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the request to apply for the FY26 Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) Congressionally Directed Spending Grant Program for the Strategic Placement of City of Foley Utilities Underground.
SECTION 2: Authorizes the City of Foley staff to submit the request on behalf of the City of Foley and Riviera Utilities and agrees to provide the required matching funds if awarded the grant.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
