A Resolution to Amend Resolution 22-1280 A Resolution to Approve the Closure of Streets in Downtown Foley for Hometown Halloween on Oct. 27, 2022

 

Summary

 

On August 15, 2022, Council approved the street closures Hometown Halloween on October 27, 2022. The Foley High School football team has scheduled a football game on October 27, 2022. The Marketing Department requests approval to change the date of Hometown Halloween from October 27, 2022 to October 28, 2022. All other details of this event will remain the same. 

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, on August 15, 2022, Council approved the street closures Hometown Halloween on October 27, 2022, and

 

WHEREAS Foley High School football team has scheduled a football game on October 27, 2022, and

 

WHEREAS, the Marketing Department will coordinate this with the Foley Police Department, and

 

WHEREAS, Marketing Department requests approval to change the date of Hometown Halloween from October 27, 2022 to October 28, 2022. All other details of this event will remain the same. 

  

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

 

SECTION 1:                      Amends Resolution 22-1280 to change the date of Hometown Halloween from October 27, 2022 to October 28, 2022.

 

SECTION 2:                     Approves the street closure of the following streets on Oct. 28, 2022 from 5:15 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.:  West Laurel Ave. (U.S. 98) from Hwy 59 to Alston Ave., and West Orange Ave. , from Hwy. 59 to Alston Street, and also, Alston Street, from U.S. 98 to Orange Ave.

 

SECTION 3:                      Approves a hay ride (two people-mover wagons with hay pulled by a tractor) for the children.  The Marketing Department will coordinate this with the Foley Police Department. The proposed route for the hay ride is: Ride begins at parking spaces on the east side of Alston Street, outside John's Gyros.  The hay wagon will travel down S. Alston to W. Verbena, where it will turn right and continue one block to S. Pine Street. There it will turn right and proceed north on S. Pine Street for two blocks, where it will turn right on W. Orange Ave. then it will travel one block east to return to the start position on S. Alston Street.

 

SECTION 4:                      This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
