WHEREAS, bids were solicited and received on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. for the demo and replacement of the north apron hangars at the Foley Municipal Airport which were substantially damaged by Hurricane Sally, and,
WHEREAS, S.C. Stagner Contracting, Inc. submitted the lowest, responsible bid in the amount of $2,444,226.00 for the base bid plus $200,500.00 for Alternate 1 to upgrade the R-panel roof with a standing seam roof on all hangars, and,
WHEREAS, AMIC insurance funds will cover the majority of the base bid cost with the exception of asphalt related line items and miscellaneous items that total approximately $100,000.00, and,
WHEREAS, it is recommended to rebuild with an R-panel roof instead of upgrading to a standing seam roof which is not covered by insurance.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Accepts the lowest, responsible bid submitted by S.C. Stagner Contracting, Inc. for the base bid amount of $2,444,226.00.
SECTION 2: Appropriates $2,444,226.00 plus a 10% contingency in the amount of $244,422.60 for a total of $2,688,648.60 to account 100-9200-5101 S03.1 E1.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
