The Police Department is requesting approval to reclassify one authorized Police Officer (Grade 160) slot to a civilian Animal Control Coordinator position (Grade 110). This position will be responsible for overseeing the City’s animal holding kennels, including daily operations related to animal care, sanitation, feeding, and monitoring of animal health and behavior. The role is intended to provide focused, consistent oversight of kennel operations and improve the quality and efficiency of animal care services. This is a budget neutral request.
The Library is requesting approval to eliminate the position of Part-Time Library Assistant/Building Custodian (Grade 30) and authorize a new position of Part-Time Building Custodian (Grade 30) in preparation of the new facility. We have a housekeeping item to re-title the new Events Coordinator position to Facilities Coordinator. These are budget neutral requests.

WHEREAS, the Police Department has identified a need for dedicated oversight and management of the City’s animal holding kennels to ensure proper animal care, sanitation, feeding, and monitoring of animal health and behavior, and
WHEREAS, reclassifying an existing Police Officer position to a civilian Animal Control Coordinator position will provide more efficient and focused management of these responsibilities, and
WHEREAS, the Library requests to reclassify a Part-Time Library Assistant/Building Custodian to a dedicated Part-Time Building Custodian and re-title the new Events Coordinator position to Facilities Coordinator, both in preparation of the new facility, and
WHEREAS, these reclassifications require amendments to the City's Pay Classification Plan.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Amends the Pay Classification Plan in the Police Department by eliminating one (1) slot in the position of Police Officer I (Job Code 2010171 / Grade 160) and authorizing the new position of Animal Control Coordinator (Job Code 2010179 / Grade 110). This is a budget neutral action.
SECTION 2: Amends the Pay Classification Plan in the Library by eliminating the position of Part-Time Library Assistant/Building Custodian (Job Code 5020135 / Grade 30), authorizing the new position of Part-Time Building Custodian (Job Code 5020139 / Grade 30), and re-titling the position of Events Coordinator (Job Code 5020137 / Grade 100) to Facilities Coordinator (Job Code 5020137 / Grade 100). These are budget neutral actions.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
