Marketing/Museums - With the recent retirement of an employee in the now vacant position of Museum Archives & Collections Coordinator (grade 170), there is a need to review the position and conduct a job analysis because the work on the city archives has been completed to a stopping point. The resources for this headcount would be better spent in creating a manager position for our current and future museums with the required professional expertise to take our museums to the next level, to include supervising staff, researching, preserving, and exhibiting collections and knowledge in obtaining funding/grant writing for museums. The job analysis resulted in the recommendation to eliminate the current position and to authorize the new position of  Museums Manager and upgrade it from a grade 170 to a 180. This action would be budget neutral for FY25.

Sports Tourism - Request to repurpose the vacant position of Events Manager Assistant to Operations Clerk due to a greater need for administrative, clerical and operational support. The grade would remain the same at a grade 90 therefore making this action budget neutral.

     WHEREAS, the Marketing/Museums and Sports Tourism Departments request to modify certain positions to better accommodate their operational needs and to optimize the use of available resources.

     NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

     SECTION 1:     Authorizes amending the City's Pay Classification Plan in the Marketing/Museums Department by eliminating the position of Museum Archives & Collections Coordinator (Job Code 5060113 / Grade 170) and authorizing the new position of Museums Manager (Job Code 5060120 / Grade 180).

     SECTION 2:     Authorizes amending the City's Pay Classification Plan in The Sports Tourism Department by adjusting the position title of Events Manager Assistant (Job Code 5040126 / Grade 90) to Operations Clerk (Job Code 5040126 / Grade 90).

     SECTION 3:     This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
