I am requesting approval to move forward with a planned capital project for traffic warning signals on CR20 near Fairway Dr. to alert drivers of emergency vehicles entering the roadway from Fire St. 3. With increased traffic volume on CR20, this project will help with traffic safety and response times of emergency crews. The proposed signals are solar powered and can be installed with City labor forces. Our original cost estimates for the equipment were based on our signals on Alston St. There has been a price increase, so the current cost will be $13,000.

WHEREAS, the Foley Fire Department has a need to provide for safer responses and improved response times from Fire St. 3, and
WHEREAS, a traffic warning signal system for CR20 near Fairway Dr. has been identified and planned as a capital project in the FY21 Budget to assist with this need.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the purchase of a traffic warning signal system from Temple, Inc. for $12,402 under capital project account #__400-2020-5104 CR20 Traffic Warning Lights-Fire Station 3_
SECTION 2: Approves an additional $598 for supplies needed for installation by City labor forces.
SECTION 3: Amends account _400-2020-5104 CR20 Traffic Warning Lights-Fire Station 3 with an increase of $13,000.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
