Request road closing for Uptown Halloween Oct. 23, 2014, and approval for hay ride route
Summary
The marketing department requests council approve the following road closing for Foley's annual Uptown Halloween Party on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014. Road closings requested are W. Laurel Ave., (Hwy 98), from Hwy. 59 to Alston Street.; and W. Orange Ave. from Hwy 59 to Alston Street.; and also this year, Alston Street from Hwy 98 to W. Orange Ave.
The department also requests approval of the following route for the hay ride. It was a successful addtion to the event last year. The route begins on S. Alston Street, traveling south to Verbena Ave., where it will turn right and travel one block west to Pine Street. There it will turn right and proceed north on Pine Street for two blocks, then trun right on Orange Ave. and go one block, and and turn right onto the starting point on Alston St.

WHEREAS, Foley's Annual Uptown Halloween Party will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014, and
WHEREAS, a hay ride will be included as one of the events this year since it was very successful last year, and
WHEREAS, temporary road closures are being requested for West Laurel Avenue (Hwy. 98) from Hwy. 59 west to Alston Street; West Orange Avenue from Hwy. 59 to Alston Street; and Alston Street from Hwy. 98 to West Orange Avenue, and
WHEREAS, the route for the hay ride would begin on South Alston Street traveling south to Verbena Avenue; turn right heading west on Verbena Avenue for one block to South Pine Street; turn right on South Pine Street and travel for two blocks; turn right on West Orange Avenue and travel for one block; turn right on South Alston Street and return to the beginning point.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Foley City Council as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the Annual Uptown Halloween Party to be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014, from 5:15 p.m. until 8:15 p.m.
SECTION 2: Approves the temporary street closures as stated above for the Party and the route for the hey ride.
