A Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to Sign Two Letters of Intent for the Purchase of Two New Garbage Trucks
Summary
The Commercial Sanitation Department would like to request that the Mayor sign a Letter of Intent for the Purchase of one (1) 2023 Peterbilt 520 chassis, and one (1) 2023 New Way Mammoth FEL 40 cu yd Body from SAMSON Equipment Company for $352,877.00. The Residential Sanitation Department would also like to request that the Mayor sign a Letter of Intent for the Purchase of one (1) 2023 Peterbilt 520 chassis, and one (1) 2023 New Way Sidewinder ASL 31 cu yd Body from SANSOM Equipment Company for $375,069.00. The ASL is budgeted for FY24, but the FEL is not budgeted until FY25. Because of the unusually long lead time in getting a chassis & bodies for garbage trucks, we need to send a letter of intent to them to hold our place in the long list of companies ordering them for next year.

WHEREAS, the Commercial Sanitation Department would like to request that the Mayor sign a Letter of Intent for the Purchase of one (1) 2023 Peterbilt 520 chassis, and one (1) 2023 New Way Mammoth FEL 40 cu yd Body from SAMSON Equipment Company off Sourcewell contract 091219-NWY for $352,877.00, AND
WHEREAS, the Residential Sanitation Department would like to request that the Mayor sign a Letter of Intent for the Purchase of one (1) 2023 Peterbilt 520 chassis, and one (1) 2023 New Way Sidewinder ASL 31 cu yd Body from SANSOM Equipment Company off Sourcewell contract 091219-NWY for $375,069.00, AND

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Authorizes the Mayor sign a Letter of Intent for the Purchase of one (1) 2023 Peterbilt 520 chassis, and one (1) 2023 New Way Mammoth FEL 40 cu yd Body from SAMSON Equipment Company for $352,877.00 for one new FEL garbage truck for Commercial Sanitation.
SECTION 2: Authorizes the Mayor sign a Letter of Intent for the Purchase of one (1) 2023 Peterbilt 520 chassis, and one (1) 2023 New Way Sidewinder ASL 31 cu yd Body from SANSOM Equipment Company for $375,069.00 for one new ASL garbage truck for Residential Sanitation.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
