WHEREAS, the City of Foley Public Works Department is requesting permission to apply for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) FY21 Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) National Grant in order to purchase an electric recycling truck, and
WHEREAS, the total funding available for the program is $46,000,000, and the program will fund up to 45% of the replacement cost of the vehicle with 55% match required, and
WHEREAS, in order to submit a competitive application, the City of Foley application will request a 40% grant with 60% match, and
WHEREAS, applications are due by March 16, 2021.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the Public Works Department request to submit an application to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) FY21 Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) National Grant.
SECTION 2: Council authorizes Mayor and other City officials to sign the application and other documents required to proceed grant request.
SECTION 3: Authorizes a cash match of up to 60% of the total project costs, if the grant is awarded.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
