Summary
Graham Creek Nature Preserve is requesting permission of the council to apply for the FY2020 Recreational Trails Program that is being offered through Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). The grant application is due on December 21, 2018 and offers 80% project funding with a 20% local match. Grant funds will be used to extend a portion of the ADA Boardwalk and Memorial Tree Walk at Graham Creek. The total project estimate is $248,644.00 and the City is requesting $198,915.20 in FY2020 RTP funds, and if the grant is funded, the City will be required to provide $49,728.80 (20%) in local matching funds through in kind and cash contributions. If awarded, match requirements will be budgeted in 2020 budget.

WHEREAS, Graham Creek Nature Preserve is requesting council approval to apply for the FY2020 Recreational Trails Program that is being offered through Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) for extending a portion of the ADA Boardwalk and Memorial Tree Trail, and
WHEREAS, the grant application is due on December 21, 2018 and offers 80% project funding with a 20% local match, and
WHEREAS, the total project estimate is $248,644.00 and the City is requesting $198,915.20 in FY2020 RTP funds, and if the grant is funded, the City will be required to provide $49,728.80 (20%) in local matching funds through in-kind and cash contributions, and
WHEREAS, the matching requirements will be budgeted in 2020 budget.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves applying for the FY2020 Recreational Trails Program that is being offered through Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) and agrees to fund the 20% matching requirements of the grant if awarded.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
