The Fire Department uses thermal imaging cameras for a variety applications including human rescue, fire investigation and overhaul, hazardous material response, etc. We are in need of an additional thermal imaging camera (TIC) as an upgrade to newer technology and to equip all front-run fire apparatus with TIC's. We had budgeted $11,000 in the Fire Ad Valorem Fund account for the purchase of a new unit this year. We are being offered a demo unit package that meets or exceeds all of our requirements at a significant discount of $4200, for a total cost of $7495.

WHEREAS, the Foley Fire Department uses thermal imaging cameras for a variety of applications including human rescue, fire investigation and overhaul, and hazardous materials response, and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department needs to add an additional upgraded camera to its front-run apparatus fleet, and
WHEREAS, the purchase of a thermal imaging camera is a budgeted item in the FY14 Fire Ad Valorem Fund 02-600-7010 capital purchase account for $11,000.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the purchase of a significantly discounted demo unit thermal imaging camera package (ISG X380) from NAFECO in the amount of $7495.00.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
