A Resolution Approving Application for Historic Preservation Funds to Attend NAPC Forum 2020 Training
Summary
Community Development Department (CDD) requests permission to apply for Historic Preservation Funds from the Alabama Historic Commission to attend the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions (NAPC) Forum 2020 training in Tacoma, Washington. NAPC FORUM is the only national conference focused on the issues facing local historic preservation commissions and historic districts. The grant will fund 60% of the total expenses to attend the Forum with the City funding the remaining 40%. At this time, CDD is estimating 6 people to attend the forum at a cost of $2,500 per person for a total of $15,000 with $9,000 being funded by the grant and $6,000 being funded by the City if awarded. The grant application is due February 3, 2020.

WHEREAS, Community Development Department (CDD) requests permission to apply for Historic Preservation Funds from the Alabama Historic Commission to attend the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions (NAPC) Forum 2020 training in Tacoma, Washington, and
WHEREAS, NAPC FORUM is the only national conference focused on the issues facing local historic preservation commissions and historic districts, and
WHEREAS, the grant will fund 60% of the total expenses to attend the Forum with the City funding the remaining 40%, and
WHEREAS, at this time, CDD is estimating 6 people to attend the forum at a cost of $2,500 per person for a total of $15,000 with $9,000 being funded by the grant and $6,000 being funded by the City if awarded, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Authorizes permission to the Community Development Department (CDD) to apply for Historic Preservation Funds to Attend NAPC Forum 2020 Training and approves the 40% matching funds if approved.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
