WHEREAS, various resolutions have appropriated funds for the development of the new library under Account #400-5020-5101 R68, as follows: Res. 21-1395: $2,440.00 to GMC for a topographic survey, $500.00 to EDT-THA Architecture, LLC for architectural concept plans, and $5,725.00 to GeoCon Engineering & Materials Testing, Inc. for geotechnical services; Res. 22-1103: $550.00 for advertising costs to solicit qualified architects; Res. 22-1412: $15,000.00 to ReThinking Libraries for professional facility design advocacy and consulting services; Res. 22-1413: $1,300,000.00 to Williams Blackstock Architects for professional services related to the new library; Res. 23-1136: $102,654.51 to Volkert, Inc. for an environmental assessment of the property; Res. 24-1477: $17,986,000.00 to White-Spunner Construction for the construction of the new library; Res. 25-1069: $330,000 for the procurement and installation of audio-visual equipment and $150,000 for additional fees to Williams Blackstock Architects; Res. 25-1095: $50,000 for construction materials testing for GeoCon; and
WHEREAS, the new library will need furniture for the additional meeting rooms and space, larger lobby area, staff offices and shelving for the children's area; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the furniture, storage and assembly of the furniture necessitates a formal bidding process in accordance with the state bid laws; and
WHEREAS, funds must be appropriated to facilitate the procurement, storage and assembly of the furniture.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves going to bid for the procurement, storage and assembly of the furniture for the new library.
SECTION 2: Appropriates funds for the furniture project not to exceed $500,000 under Account #400-5020-5101 R68 CONST Library Expansion - New Building.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
