A Resolution to Approve the Purchase of a 8 Ton Gas Package HVAC Air Conditioning Unit for the Foley Justice Center Courtroom
Summary
The Foley Police Department is requesting to purchase an American Standard 8 ton gas package air conditioner unit with horizontal discharge, wire/harness adapters, and crane rental for installation on the roof of the Foley Justice Center. The existing unit failed in the fall of 2021 and the failure is so extensive that the parts and labor exceed the price of a new unit. The new unit will have a seer rating of 14, as opposed to 10 or 11 with the old unit. Therefore, improved energy efficiency is estimated to be a 3 to 8 percent increase. After consulting with city maintenance, the police department is requesting to move forward with the purchase and installation of the HVAC unit from D&D Quality Services for $24,000.00 to maintain consistency as the other 14 HVAC units on the building have all been installed by D&D Quality Services.

WHEREAS, The Foley Police Department is requesting to purchase an American Standard 8 ton gas package air conditioner unit with horizontal discharge, wire/harness adapters, and crane rental for installation on the roof of the Foley Justice Center. The existing unit failed in the fall of 2021 and the failure is so extensive that the parts and labor exceed the price of a new unit. WHEREAS, after consulting with city maintenance, the police department is requesting to move forward with the purchase and installation of the HVAC unit from D&D Quality Services for $24,000.00 to maintain consistency as the other 14 HVAC units on the building have all been installed by D&D Quality Services.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the purchase of an American Standard 8 ton gas package HVAC air conditioner unit with horizontal discharge, wire/harness adapters, and crane rental for installation on the roof of the Foley Justice Center from D&D Quality Services in the amount of $24,000.00.
SECTION 2: Approved the budget increase of $24,000.00 to 100-2010-5100 (PD-Capital Purchase) account.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
