In 1985, the City purchased a two acre parcel located in Summerdale for the sole purpose of constructing a non-directional beacon for the benefit of the Foley Municipal Airport.  The beacon was decommissioned by the FAA in June of 2016.  The property no longer serves a public purpose to the City so I would like to have it appraised.  Through an Ordinance, I am also petitioning the Council to declare this property surplus and approve it for sale at the appraised value.

     WHEREAS, the City of Foley owns a two acre parcel identified by PPIN 064597 located in Summerdale, Alabama, and,

     WHEREAS, this property was purchased by the City in 1985 for the sole purpose of constructing a non-directional beacon for the benefit of the Foley Municipal Airport, and,

     WHEREAS, the beacon was decommissioned by the FAA in June of 2016 so the property no longer serves a purpose for the City, and,

     WHEREAS, an appraisal is needed to establish a value in order for the property to be sold once an Ordinance declaring the property as surplus is approved by Council.

     NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

     SECTION 1:     Approves hiring Courtney & Morris Real Estate to appraise the property for the purpose of establishing property value.

     SECTION 2:     Appropriates $1,635 to account number 100-1012-6020 for the appraisal.

     SECTION 3:     This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
