WHEREAS, the American Rescue Plan Act 2021 (ARPA) includes funds to be awarded for economic relief to eligible U.S. airports, and,
WHEREAS, the Secretary of Transportation announced on June 22, 2021 that the Foley Municipal Airport is eligible to received funds in the amount of $32,000 and is intended to be used for airport costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, janitorial services and combating the spread of pathogens at the airport and is available until depleted or up to four years from the date of the accepted grant offer, and,
WHEREAS, the State of Alabama, acting through the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAAj) is administering the ARPA grant, and,
WHEREAS, the grant application for the funding is due by November 30, 2021.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: That the City of Foley is hereby authorized to make application and to enter into an agreement with ALDOT and the FAA for airport funding assistance for eligible operational expenses incurred January 20, 2020 or later.
SECTION 2: That either the Mayor or the Airport Manager for the City of Foley are hereby each authorized, directed and empowered to apply for and enter into an airport funding agreement with the FAA and the State of Alabama, acting by and through the Alabama Department of Transportation, including all understandings and assurances contained therein, and to each act in connection with the application and agreement and to provide such additional information as may be requested.
SECTION 3: This revenue will be included in the FY22 budget under Account 100-1070-4301.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
