A Resolution Approving the Wolf Creek Shoreline Stabilization Capital Project
Summary
The Nature Parks Department requests council approval to allocate the funds and construct the Wolf Creek Park Shoreline Stabilization project. The project includes re-constructing the existing bulkhead area, design, permitting and construction of a pocket beach south of the fishing pier and repairing the kayak ramp. The original estimate was for $35,000. Due to enhanced damage of the bulkhead and collapse of the kayak ramp, the new quote was $70,000. This is a very specialized marine construction and design so we would like to select Martin Marine Engineering and Construction to perform the engineering, permitting and construction.

WHEREAS, the Nature Parks Department is requesting to begin the Wolf Creek Shoreline Stabilization Project, and
WHEREAS, the capital project is in the 2024 Capital Projects Plan with a planned amount of $35,000, and
WHEREAS, the planned estimate did not take into account the design, permitting and canoe launch repairs due to the increased erosion, and
WHEREAS, the new estimate by Martin Marine includes design, permitting, shoreline stabilization, construction of a pocket beach (to minimize future erosion) and repair of the canoe launch for $70,000.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the Wolf Creek Shoreline Stabilization Project by Martin Marine Engineering and Construction and allocates $70,000 in funds under Account No. 400-5090-5100 Q83-IMPR Wolf Creek Park Improvements.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
