WHEREAS, the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce (“Chamber”) has a program called the Gateway Initiative which is designed and intended to promote economic development in the City of Foley and the surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found and determined that the Chamber’s Gateway Initiative promotes and advances a public purpose and advances a legitimate governmental interest; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to support the Chamber’s Gateway Initiative by donating money to support this worthy cause; and
WHEREAS, the City finds and determines that the benefits to the public outweigh any incidental benefits to private entities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF FOLEY, ALABAMA, at its meeting on November 5, 2018, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into the Sponsorship Agreement which is attached hereto as Exhibit A which calls for the City to donate $5,000 to the Chamber’s Gateway Initiative.
